MINO-YAKI SMALL PLATE

MINO-YAKI SMALL PLATE

Lightweight, yet durable, Mino-yaki porcelain is ideal for everyday use. These petite plates are perfect for serving small dishes or displaying trinkets, but we do love to see them paired with our Trunk Design Ku Washi Incense.

Gently scalloped and hand-glazed, each of these saucers is unique. The creamy off-white and sky blue satin glazes offer a soft, rustic aesthetic, each ever-so delicately detailed with tiny flecks. The cheery yellow and colourful red offer a glossier sheen, perfect for brightening a table setting.

We love the versatility of Mino porcelain pieces. To see more, take a look at our full Mino-Yaki collection.

Believed to the oldest form of artistic pottery produced in Japan, Mino-yaki dates as far back as the Nara Period 710-794. Produced in the old Mino Province, in present-day Gifu Prefecture, it became popular for traditional tea ceremony vessels. Today, the styles of Mino-yaki are as varied as they are beautiful — from the warm rustic glazes of hand-thrown traditional Kiso Seto, Black Seto, Shino and Oribe ware to the soft pastels of modern tableware.
